Privacy Policy
Effective Date: July 15, 2026
Who We Are
This Privacy Policy explains how Crank Technologies, Inc. (“Blackcard,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles personal information in the Blackcard platform. Use of the Service is also governed by our Terms of Service. Contact us at support@blackcard.vip.
1. Information We Collect
Account information: your name and email address. Blackcard uses email as your account identity for sign-in, account recovery, claiming a Blackcard, and manager invitations.
Venue & business information: for venue owners/managers, the venue details entered during onboarding and team membership.
Blackcard & membership information: the venue that issued your card, tier, card status, assigned perks, and your claim/invitation records.
QR credential: each card has a secure verification credential, stored in encrypted form; it may also be included in an Apple Wallet pass you choose to add.
Scan/verification records: when a card is scanned, we record the result, the venue, and the card involved to operate verification and provide venue scan activity.
Subscription information: for venues that subscribe, Apple provides Blackcard with the subscription status (active, expired, or in a grace period) so we can grant or restrict access to venue features. All billing and payment details are handled by Apple; we do not receive or store your Apple ID password or full payment card information.
Support communications: if you email us, we receive the contents of that message.
2. What We Do Not Collect
We do not use phone numbers for account identity, login, recovery, or authentication. We do not collect date of birth, we do not track your device location, and we do not require profile photos. We do not use advertising-tracking cookies in the app.
3. How We Use Information
To operate the Service (issue, manage, verify, and display Blackcards and perks); to communicate service and account notices; to support venue operations such as scan activity; to protect against fraud and misuse; and to comply with legal obligations.
5. Send Text (Invitations)
When a manager uses “Send Text” to share a claim link, Blackcard opens your device's native Messages composer with the link pre-filled. Blackcard does not collect, store, validate, or send to the recipient's phone number; you choose the recipient in your own Messages app.
6. Camera Permission
The scanner uses your device camera only to read a Blackcard QR code for verification. Camera images are not stored by Blackcard for this purpose.
7. Account Deletion & What Happens
Cardholders can delete their account from Settings. When you delete your account: your login access ends and your session is invalidated; your Blackcard becomes unavailable and its QR credential is cleared, so it no longer shows a usable QR and no longer verifies as valid at scan (including any Apple Wallet pass); and your personal details on the card are anonymized. To the venue that issued your card, the record appears as a deleted/unavailable user rather than an active cardholder. We retain limited non-identifying operational records (for example, that a scan occurred) for the purposes described in Retention.
8. Data Retention
We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide the Service and for legitimate operational, security, fraud-prevention, billing, audit, and legal purposes. After account deletion we retain only what is necessary for those purposes, in anonymized or limited form where practical.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and object to certain processing. Cardholders can delete their account in-app; for other requests contact support@blackcard.vip. We do not sell personal information.
10. Children & Minors
The Service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a minor provided us information, contact support@blackcard.vip.
11. International Users
The Service is operated from the United States. If you use it from elsewhere, your information will be processed in the United States.
12. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including encrypting card QR credentials at rest and transmitting data over secure connections. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. Third-Party Links
The Service may reference third-party sites (for example, a venue's website or the App Store). Their privacy practices are their own; please review their policies.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy. For material changes we will provide reasonable notice by email and/or in-app notice; the effective date shows when it was last updated.
